A new setting for the photo you have
This tool separates the pet from its original background and places it onto a background image you upload. It preserves the pet's original position and pose instead of drawing a new animal. It is useful when you have a favorite portrait but want a quieter setting behind it.
An outline you can check and refine
A cutout model finds an initial outline, then image processing refines the boundary around fur, ears and paws. Pale fur on a pale surface, grass crossing the body and similar foreground and background colors can need manual correction. Use Outline balance to include more fur or less background, then erase or restore areas with the brush. Changing the balance resets brush corrections.
What the replacement does and does not change
The new background fills the original photo shape with a centered crop. The pet stays in the same position; it is not moved into a newly generated pose. The tool does not reconstruct hidden body parts or relight the pet to match a different scene. Choose a background with a compatible perspective and light direction for a more natural composite.
Private processing, on your device
The pet photo, uploaded background and outline processing stay in your browser tab. This tool does not send your photos to our server or image-model provider. The model and runtime download when first needed, about 19 MB in total. Processing speed depends on your device. Output has a longest edge of up to 1600 pixels.
How to use it
- Open the background tool. Upload one pet photo and a separate background image.
- Replace the background, then check the ears, fur and paws. Adjust Outline balance or use the erase and restore brushes if needed.
- Apply any brush corrections, compare Before and After, then download your finished PNG.
Before you start
Is the background created automatically?
You upload the new background yourself. Pawframe fits it behind the pet; this tool does not generate a background from a text prompt.
Does this use my cloud editing allowance?
No. Background replacement runs in your browser and does not require a paid image-model request, a server image job or result storage.
Can it preserve every strand of fur?
Fine fur and similar colors can be difficult to separate. Check the outline and use the manual controls. Exact recovery of obscured fur is not guaranteed.
Why does the pet's lighting look different from the new background?
The tool keeps the original pet rather than relighting it. Pick a background with similar lighting and camera perspective, or use a simple design where the contrast is intentional.
